INTERIM FIRE CHIEF BRAD READING


Interim Fire Chief Brad Reading is the chief executive officer for Fire District 1 as well as for the Lynnwood Fire Department.

Reading was promoted from assistant chief after the resignation of Chief Scott Cockrum at the beginning of 2017. Interim Chief Reading also served as interim fire chief prior to the mid-2016 merged administration agreement with the Lynnwood Fire District.

He is a 38-year veteran of fire service. After serving as Fire Chief of the Mountlake Terrace Fire Department, Reading became Assistant Chief at Fire District 1 in 2001 when the departments joined forces in a regional consolidation. Interim Chief Reading was an incident commander during the 2014 Oso mudslide; directing on-scene, local disaster recovery efforts, and working with the families of victims. He also led the Northwest Incident Management Team in Stevens County during state wildfire suppression efforts in North Central Washington in 2015. Chief Reading was also heavily involved as a leader in a 1990’s regional task force formed to combat a wave of arsons that hit in the area.

Reading is a member of the following Boards: SNOCOM, SERS, County E-911 Committee and the Snohomish County Fire Chiefs Association.
