Fire District 1 is fortunate to have a cadre of volunteer chaplains on-call around the clock. While firefighters are tending to the emergency at hand, a chaplain may be called to tend to some of the other needs that arise during a crisis situation.
Chaplians may provide information and comfort to the family member of a patient being transported by firefighters to the hospital. After fires they assist families with contacting their insurance company and coordinating with the Red Cross if housing and clothing are needed.
The chaplains are part of Support 7, a volunteer group that responds in a converted motor home to provide shelter and food for families at emergency scenes.
