Fire District 1’s Technical Rescue Team is made up of firefighters trained with advanced specialty rescue training. Martha Lake Fire Station 21 is home to the team and TR21, a specialized truck stocked with equipment and tools to support the mission of the team.
Team members are on duty at the station 24/7.
Fire District 1’s rescue technicians are also part of the Snohomish County Technical Rescue Team, which provides regional response. Fire District 1 is one of nine participating jurisdictions. Combining resources into a single regional team allows pooling of resources and sharing of equipment to respond efficiently and effectively.
Members of the technical rescue team have specialized training for:
- Collapsed buildings
- Urban search and rescue
- Trench cave-ins
- Confined-space rescues
- Ice and surface water rescues
- High- and low-angle rope rescue systems
Members of the Fire District 1 Technical Rescue Team worked many long hours supporting the search and rescue effort following the Oso Landslide.
